1 Thessalonians, Chapter 1 (Pauline Epistles)

1Paul and Silvanus[1] and Timothy{1} to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.[2]{2}

Thanksgiving for Faith

2We give thanks to God always[3]{3} concerning you all,{4} making mention of you in[4] our prayers,{5} 3unceasingly remembering your work of faith,{6} and the labor of love,{7} and the patience[5] of hope{8} in[6] our Lord, Jesus Christ, before[7] our God and Father,[8]

4knowing, brothers[9]{9} who are[10] loved by God,{10} your election{11} 5because our gospel{12} did not came to you in word only, but also in power,{13} and in the Holy Spirit, and with[11] much assurance, as you know what sort we were among you because of you.{14} 6And you became imitators of us and of the Lord,{15} welcoming the word in affliction with much joy of the Holy Spirit,{16} 7so that you become patterns{17} to all those believing in Macedonia and Achaia.{18} 8For the word of the Lord sounded from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith toward God has gone forth,[12]{19} so there is no need for us to have to say[13] anything. 9For they themselves announce about us what kind of reception[14] we have with you, and how you had turned to God from the idols,{20} to serve the living and true God,{21} 10and to await the His Son from the heavens,{22} whom He raised from the dead, Jesus.{23} He delivers us from the coming wrath.{24}
